“The truth will liberate you.” The mining company TVIRD and its media supporters are trying to cover up the truth on the collapsed of the sulphide dam. When we released the news on the collapse of the dam, which happened on July 11, 2007, TVIRD tried all their best to hide the truth from the public. Days after the collapse, they rehabilitated the collapsed structure of the dam as shown in their picture taken last July 18, 2007.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources conducted an investigation about the collapsed dam last July 26, 2007 which was 15 days after the collapsed. Their finding: no collapse! This was expected since they can no longer see the actual collapse for it was already repaired by TVIRD. The term used by TVIRD on the incident was “soil erosion”.

When a board member of the Sanggunian Panglalawigan, Hon. Cedric Adriatico, heard of the news, he calls for a legislative inquiry. The Provincial Board’s Committee on Natural Resources and Environment Protection then called for a committee hearing last August 18, 2007. After the hearing, news came out that the committee members reject the news of the collapsed of the dam; courtesy of Sun Star through its correspondent Mr. Bong Garcia. When asked about the real score, Hon Adriatico said that they were just misquoted. In fact, the committee is not through with their investigation.
